Lithium-Duty Smart Valve Positioner (IP7000 Series)

IP7000 smart valve positioner introduced by DYNCONTROL for lithium-battery duty: non-contact magnetic-strip position feedback with no friction-moving metal parts in the feedback path, copper- and zinc-free pneumatic and feedback components, linearity and hysteresis ≤ 0.5%, low-temperature version down to -40 °C.

Why lithium plants need a dedicated positioner

In cathode-material plants, metal foreign matter is controlled at the ppm level. Every friction point in a conventional linkage-feedback positioner — feedback arms, pins, linkage joints — is a potential source of metal powder and ion release, and strong plant vibration plus cold winters make the problem worse.

The IP7000 series was introduced by DYNCONTROL for exactly this environment.

Non-contact feedback — no friction, no metal powder

Valve position is sensed by a non-contact magnetic strip: the strip moves with the valve stem or rotary arm while the sensing module reads the position without any contact. The feedback path contains no friction-moving metal parts, so metal powder cannot be generated at the feedback arm, and feedback reliability does not degrade with wear.

  • Vibration resistance 20 m/s² (60–500 Hz), no resonance peak
  • No linkage to loosen, no hysteresis accumulation
  • Piezo valve releases millisecond air pulses only when a deviation exists — high positioning accuracy with negligible steady-state air consumption (≤ 0.4 L/min)

Copper- and zinc-free construction

Copper and zinc are explicitly controlled foreign metals in lithium-battery production. The IP7000 avoids copper- and zinc-containing parts — the brass pneumatic fittings commonly found in positioners are not used. Combined with the powder-coated aluminum enclosure and corrosion-resistant pneumatic components, the unit is suited to ammonia- and acid-mist-laden precursor plant atmospheres.

Paired with non-metallic valves (wetted parts free of metal), the entire control loop — valve plus positioner — stays free of copper and zinc.

Precision and low air consumption

  • Piezo valve pulse-width pressure control: the microprocessor releases millisecond air pulses through the piezo valve and acts only when there is a deviation, giving tight positioning with negligible steady-state air use (≤ 0.4 L/min).
  • Linearity ≤ 0.5%, hysteresis ≤ 0.5%; position feedback resolution ≤ 0.1%; transmission error ≤ 0.1%.
  • HART 7 communication, 4–20 mA input, one-touch field initialisation and local LCD configuration (characteristic curve, stroke limits, tight shut-off, signal direction).
  • Linear and rotary versions share the same body — changing the actuator does not mean changing the positioner.

Low-temperature version: ambient down to -40 °C

Climatic-chamber test (chamber at -45 °C); the low-temperature version is rated -40 °C to +80 °C, i.e. the rating keeps a margin.

The low-temperature version (ordering code L) is rated -40 °C to +80 °C ambient; the standard version (code N) covers -20 °C to +80 °C. The intrinsically safe version is also available in a low-temperature build (Ex ia, T4/T6). For winter-exposed pipe racks and cold-region lines without trace heating, specify code L — no additional enclosure heating required.
